In May 2011 Elaine ‘Shooter’ Alexander will embark on the challenge to become the first woman from Northern Ireland to circumnavigate Ireland by kayak.
The motivation for the trip is not only the 1000 mile challenge but also to raise much needed funds for the registered charity - Share Centre.
In 2011 SHARE will celebrate 30 years of providing outdoor activity programmes which promote inclusion between disabled & non-disabled people.
To succeed in the 1000 mile circumnavigation of Ireland will take skill and determination. Tide, headlands, cliffs, not to mention unpredictable weather will all be barriers to this solo attempt.
Meticulous planning and a drive to succeed were demonstrated in July 2010 when Elaine’s pilot run saw her embark on a successful 26 day trip around Ulster.
